A Helping Hand for Bob Reams

Hello and thank you for stopping by. If you've made it this far, please read all that follows.
As many of you know, our dad suffered a stroke the morning of June 7th and while we are blessed he survived, it has had long-lasting impacts- on both him and his finances. As you likely also know, our dad has been self employed. He worked simply to survive and pay his bills. His recovery has been a slow and steady road, but a big hurdle is how tired he gets and very quickly. This is keeping him from being able to resume his regular work activities. There is really no telling if or when he will be back to “normal.”
Our dad, being 69, is still remarkably independent and we are doing our best to get him back on his feet (literally and figuratively). While he has been staying with my family since his hospital release, and he is endlessly welcome here, we know deep down that he really wants to get back into his own space at home. While trying to move these pieces into place, it’s become clear that his 5th wheel is really not in an acceptable condition. It has some leaks which is our biggest concern because of the Oregon climate. It’s been a mindful effort for us all to help reduce the risks of future strokes or health troubles in general, so the idea of mold and mildew worries us. Previously, he could keep up on patching holes and such but that isn’t really in the cards at this point. We really feel his 5th wheel needs replaced.
Our dad has lived in this area for decades and it’s more likely than not that you have had some sort of interaction and/or friendship with him. From being an AA sponsor and active member for eons to making sure others' cars are safe and road worthy, he's dedicated a huge part of his life to helping others. We know his circle runs far and wide and this is apparent when we think back on all the visits and phone calls he received while in the hospital (and since then). If it is on your heart to contribute to getting him a new trailer and help stay caught up on his newly acquired medical expenses, we would all be so incredibly grateful. Please feel free to share this page in hopes that it will get us closer and hopefully beyond our goal.
Thank you so much for loving our dad and taking the time to read this.
