Big Fight for Little Noah

Donation protected
On the evening of 20 April 2020, while most of Australia (and the world) was in COVID lockdown, our beautiful friends the Beserra family received some horrible, life-changing news about their adorable 2 year old boy Noah.

They were told that Noah had a massive brain tumour that would need to be removed immediately for Noah to have any chance of survival.

Noah was rushed into surgery the following morning (without time for an MRI) and doctors were able to remove most of the tumour during a very tense procedure.

Later in the week, Noah underwent further surgery to remove the remainder of the tumour.

Subsequent test results confirmed that Noah had Embryonal Tumour with Multilayered Rosettes (ETMR) – an extremely rare, deadly brain tumour that affects children below the age of 4 years.

With the support of his amazing parents, Cara and Christian, Noah has since embarked on a very aggressive chemotherapy treatment protocol.  The treatment has made him very sick and caused some permanent disabilities.  It's also been complicated by the hospital protocols caused by COVID.

Noah is now at a point where he needs to undergo radiation therapy.  He starts therapy this week, and it will carry over Christmas and into the new year. Then his family hope some targeted chemotherapy drugs may have more success than Noah’s original chemo protocol, which has failed.

Despite being a very sick little boy, Noah always has a smile on his face and a hug for everyone in the room.  He is SO bright and SO happy, it is heartbreaking to watch him endure all these surgeries (he’s had seven already) and treatments.

Clearly Noah’s condition has been a massive burden on the Beserra family, not only physically and emotionally but also financially.  It’s a big load for one family to bear, particularly on top of all the COVID-related stresses that we have all had to endure this year.  Cara stopped work to care for Noah following his diagnosis, and Christian’s job has also been impacted by COVID.  In addition, they don’t have family support in Australia, and as we all know, the borders are closed.

And that's where you and the rest of "the village" come into the picture!

If friends, connections, and other beautiful people that are touched by Noah's story can each contribute a modest amount of money, it will go a long way to easing the financial burden on Christian and Cara, and help ensure they can continue to provide the support needed to care for both Noah and his nine-year-old brother Luca.

Please give generously.

NOTE: GoFundMe has asked me to (insisted!) that I add some details about myself as organiser of this fundraiser, which I am happy to do.  The Beserra's were our neighbours for 6 years in Randwick, Sydney and we remain very close friends.  Luca still comes over to our house to steal my cookies!  Here is a photo of our families not long after Noah did his first long stint in hospital.

I will immediately be sending all funds raised (net of the fee that GoFundMe deducts) directly to the Beserra's account via online banking transfer.
