A helping hand for Omar and his family

I started this fundraiser for a friend of mine named Omar. In the evening of Monday May 6, 2024, Omar was working his second job, driving for Uber. When he went to Target on the East Side of Madison to pick up his ride, he was attacked and stabbed 5 times in the right shoulder and the right side. Omar was able to escape his car, and the carjacker took his vehicle. Omar was taken to the hospital and underwent surgeries to save his life. Today Omar is still in the hospital and is out of danger, but he has a long road to recovery and as we all know, Uber does not provide worker's compensation to its drivers. While Omar's wife does have insurance that will help cover the medical bills, Omar will be unable to return to work at his day job while he is recovering and he will most likely not be returning to Uber any time soon. This fundraiser is meant to help Omar and his family raise money for their rent and other living expenses and to help with replacing or fixing the vehicle that was taken during the carjacking. Every dollar will help Omar and his family. So please, it if is only a dollar that you can afford, it will be greatly appreciated.

Comencé esta recaudación de fondos para un amigo mío llamado Omar. En la tarde del lunes 6 de mayo de 2024, Omar estaba trabajando en su segundo empleo: conducir para Uber. Cuando fue a Target en el lado este de Madison para recoger su vehículo, fue atacado y apuñalado 5 veces en el hombro derecho y en el costado derecho. Omar pudo escapar de su auto y el ladrón se apoderó de su vehículo. Omar fue llevado al hospital y sometido a cirugías para salvarle la vida. Hoy Omar todavía está en el hospital y está fuera de peligro, pero tiene un largo camino hacia la recuperación y como todos sabemos, Uber no brinda compensación laboral a sus conductores. Si bien la esposa de Omar tiene un seguro que ayudará a cubrir las facturas médicas, Omar no podrá regresar a su trabajo diario mientras se recupera y lo más probable es que no regrese a Uber en el corto plazo. Esta recaudación de fondos está destinada a ayudar a Omar y su familia a recaudar dinero para el alquiler y otros gastos de subsistencia y a ayudar a reemplazar o reparar el vehículo que fue sustraído durante el robo. Cada dólar ayudará a Omar y su familia. Entonces, por favor, si solo puede pagar un dólar, se lo agradeceremos mucho.
