My Beautiful Universe And I contracted Covid-19 in mid September, after 3 weeks I was blessed to be able to recover. MaiUniverse fought for over 65 days and counting. She was placed on a ventilator which she had assisted in doing for her on patients at her second home as an RRT ( Registered Respiratory Therapist) and giving me all the love aura she has. MaiUniverse is strong and has always given so much. It has reached that moment at the edge of the ocean where Mailove is being called to transition to her spiritual plane. A place we first discussed at the top of Sandia Mountains in her home of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She held my hand and showed me so many stars and all I could see was her smile and feel how tight she was holding my hand. She was already in love and now I had to catch up with this young smile who so desired (Oni) me to be hers. I asked MaiOni if there was anything she could do right now what would it be? She replied “ Mrs. Reginald, Mommy and the love of the rest of your life”. She has loved me regardless of trials, failure, disappointment, success, excitement, unfamiliar circumstances and new beginnings. I’ve always let her know that because she gave birth to our wonderful loves I could never out do her love for me. When we argued and I wanted to leave the house, she would say “ you can be mad on the couch, leave and see”. I still I’m behind because even in her state she prayed ( “In the name of God I pray your healing hands on my Reginald. He is stronger than he knows. I pray for his speedy recovery along with mind, body, and spirit Amen ”). She put her fingers in my hair and rubbed my face, it always calmed me and made her blush for 24 plus years she did this and it never failed to assure us everything would be ok. Even has she wiped away my tears and placed them on her lips she comforted my soul knowing I was not ready to give up my Princess Oni. “ it’s ok love, it’s ok sweetheart” “our babies need you” “I’m fighting I promise I am, but y’all will be ok” as l laid on her listening to her heartbeat over the noise of her MICU room. She caressed my spirit and asked “your ok Brink you hear me your ok” “yes ma’am Oni” “ Now sit up wiped those tears, I’m still here!”. Maisha’s desire has always been to help others. Her passion is helping those that cannot help themselves because of age, Socio-economic status, or mental health unawareness. She gave everything to Medical City Dallas, to make sure her patients had a fighting chance and her fellow RRT’s someone to count on. MaiUniverse transitioned from this Life on November 18th from Covid-19 a virus so deadly it has shut done countries, that she choose to work 12 hour shifts with Covid 19 patients to make sure they would see their families again and she to be able to take care of hers. MaiUniverse was as fearless and compassionate as they come and gave her last breath to the very machine that she made sure others could survive on. Thank you Mailove for choosing to sacrifice for your family our 4 LOVES and give unconditionally without praise for a profession that most could not do. From your biggest FAN. I love you Oni!
