A Home and HOPE for Nathan
Donation protected
STORY:
My name is Michelle Sarah. I have a twin brother who is severely compromised by his mental health. He is schizoaffective.
It has been 15 years of witnessing the lack of mental health support and awareness there is in our system and even in most communities I've been a part of. Knowing how to show up for him, lift him up, give him hope, support without enabling, hear his "paranoid delusions" and accept them as his true reality, has all taken many many years and much tragedy, to step into the hard-won lessons that have brought us to this request. We are in a difficult time right now, he is very much the product of his difficult head space and a world in which there's not really support for him unless he wants to take meds that make him feel awful in his body and provide a whole slew of other difficulties while just putting a bandaid on the problem.
WHY NOW?
He has made a home out of the garage at our dear friends house, it was offered to him for a few months and now he doesn't want to/won't leave. This is pretty typical behavior for someone in this mind state however it is time to get him out of there. We don't want to put him on the streets obviously and trying to figure out what to do has been extraordinary difficult as all that using what "the system" makes available to us, admitting him or otherwise, has done is simply highlight the devastating lack of support, lack of resources we have to call upon for mental health support.
ASK:
What we believe to be the best (and honestly only option at this point) is to raise $3000 to get his small RV/camper on the road so he can be in nature where he is happiest and most calm. This will allow him the opportunity to finally have his own 'home' and be mobile and still be close to dear friends and family so that we can still help as needed.
This opportunity will give him a leg to stand on while he figures out what his next steps are. Nathan is truly one of the most beautiful souls I know, he is kind and gentle, he's beautiful inside and out, brilliant, inspiring, he is a light and he has much work to do in this lifetime, he is such a special gift to the world and we are trying to give him a chance to shine.
We would be grateful for any donation both monetary or physical. We are needing to find a reliable car to pull the RV we bought for him this month. The prices of RVs have skyrocketed due to COVID and so we are out of dollars to make the rest of this effort happen. If you or a friend have a car that would fit this need and that you are willing to part with, please contact us.
COVID!
Covid has made my brothers mental health vastly decline and reality has become hard to deal with.
Reality right now is hard for many...... and as you may or may not know, people with mental illnesses are having an extremely difficult time with our current world situation and where there is no more than a failure of a "support system" for mental health, we are left with the need to think outside the box and create a safe place for our Nathan where his mind, body and spirit can feel safe.
THANK YOU!
We have tried every possible solution that this country has to offer. Sadly we are at a loss for how to fully support my brother and your donation will not only change the life of someone who so desperately needs hope, you will also bring peace to a family that has been struggling for over a decade.
