A Home for 29 Buffalo

These past two weeks have been remarkable. I, like many, am having trouble sleeping as I watch with so much sorrow what is happening in the news. But then I have my problems that also keep me up. This past week my heart was softened and calmed. I had a desperate situation where I needed to find a place to keep 29 water buffalo. Who do you call to find a home for 29 giant animals?

You call everyone!

What softened my heart was that everyone heard the call and everyone answered.

A reminder that we are good, I am surrounded by good, most people care and want to help wherever they can, I have community, I have support.

And so, I blasted social media. From that SF Gate did a story, and I could not believe what happened next.

People called, texted, emailed and even came to the farmers market to find me. Three days after the article came out, we had a temporary place for them. A beautiful and generous couple from Sonoma said I could bring them to their ranch, but it was short-term. A week, possibly two.

We also found 80 acres close by for long term, but it needs fencing.

Fencing 80 acres is at least $50,000.00. Friends and employees have been out there for a week straight trying to erect this fence on our own, but everyone is exhausted, and morale is low. We need help financially so we can call in the fence builders who do this for a living and could wrap this fence up in a few days.

It's $8.00 a foot to install electric fencing. My crew is exhausted, and we need help.
