For over 20 years, Adrienne Galler Lastra and Amigos De Los Animales has been a beacon of hope for countless dogs in Loiza, Puerto Rico. Adri has poured her heart and soul into Amigos De Los Animales, a non-profit dog shelter that has become a sanctuary for countless furry friends. But there's a hidden sacrifice behind this incredible dedication.

The shelter itself is Adri’s home. She generously donated her own living space to create a haven for these dogs. For over a decade, she's given up having a place of her own to ensure the well-being of the animals she loves.

This incredible act of selflessness hasn't come without challenges. Faced with keeping the shelter's water and electricity on, Adri had to make a heartbreaking decision. She pawned her mother's precious jewelry, valued at $5,000, for a mere $1,800 to keep the lights on for her canine companions.

And her dedication doesn't stop there. Working tirelessly at the shelter all day, she then went on to teach English four nights a week from 6pm to 11pm. This extra job ensured that every penny donated to the shelter goes directly to the dogs' needs and not her own!

Now she is older and lives off a small fixed income of Social Security so that every penny goes to the dogs at the shelter that she has given her life to...

We can't let this hero keep sacrificing her own well-being. Adri needs your help! Our dream is to build a second story on top of the existing shelter, creating a dedicated living space for her without sacrificing any space for the dogs.

Architect services $4000

Permits $4500

Rebuild additional roof installing rebar and concrete to prepare the roof and original house for a second floor $20,000

This will include using this same concrete for the interior of the tiny apartment for industrial look.

Wrought iron Fencing around entire roof $7000

Wall construction $25,000

Roof construction $10,000

Electrical and Plumbing $10,000

Cabinets, kitchen, bathroom installations and equipment $6000

These are low balling after experiencing the higher cost to build so it should really be $92.500 BUT we'll make do with the goal set here.
