A home for Daddy & Daughter

Hello good people! First and foremost, a very grateful Thank You for showing an interest & clicking on my page.

We are:
I'm Martin, a disabled vet with a damaged spinal column and a love for an ever shrinking natural world and rehabilitating injured wildlife & abandoned pets. And this is my little girl Zoey, an outdoor loving princess whom I've been raising alone with the help of her grandma since she was 3. She is 11 now, in the 6th grade and a future marine biologist, (for the moment).

Our plans:
I have been working for years towards saving up to build ourselves a cozy home in rural Mississippi that we can call our own and live independently amongst the beautiful woods and critters. Where we can appreciate the clean and simpler life. But this humble dream has now become an urgent need.

The losing struggle:
We've been living in a mobile home trailer on a tiny lot that we chose together. In order to save as much as possible, I chose an older trailer that requires frequent repairs. After 9 years, this trailer has now become dilapidated and a hazard. Rewiring, roofing, replumbing, releveling and frequent patching has reached it's max and I can no longer house my daughter here as I've had to shut off parts of the trailer's electrical current and plumbing fearing an imminent fire from water damaged & old faulty wiring.

My humbling breaking point:
It is incredibly heartbreaking for me to come to terms with this reality, because of my strong independence and self reliance. Although I'm halfway to completing my savings goal, pride won't take a lead to my daughters safety and wellbeing. I need help now. It hurts to admit it, but I need to reach out to people for help.

This may also be the last opportunity I have to make this urgent need a reality. I will have no choice but to have surgery on my spine in several months to try and alleviate several military injuries, so I will be unable to work for months and possibly never return to full employment. Which makes this my last full fight at getting us two a safe home that will last.

A plan years in the making:
To make this as efficient and streamlined as possible, I am using a great veterans housing program my state offers, my life savings and the help of a tiny circle of good people in achieving this goal. Your help is crucial now, and it is also help that will never be forgotten. Thank you!
