A new home for grandma Nabuuso and family

Donation protected
My name is Manuela Demattio, I am Italian but I live and work between Italy and Germany.
I would like to introduce you to two very dear and important people for the realisation of this campaign and of the dream of donating a new home to a homeless family and to help bringing up their children.
Nils, my son, spent last year teaching as a volunteer at Makarere West Walley Primary School of the Kasubi slum in Kampala (Uganda).

Eria Sserugo is a friend and great activist in the community. Eria is a very generous person who tries to help the neediest families in the community by cooking "pilau" (rice, meat and vegetables) for all children, especially the children who need funding to be able to go to school (in Uganda schooling is not public and families make enormous efforts to send their children to school) and the elderly who have to cope with hardship.

In this context of fragility and vulnerability, there is the story of "Grandma Nabuuso" and her 5 grandchildren: Charles (16), Michael (10), Madrine (8), Abraham (8) and Mark (7).

I have been twice to Uganda this year and I met the family. My sons and I finance the tuition fees for the 3 children who attend Makarere West Walley Primary School.

The children lost their parents and live in a derelict house- one room with their 72-year-old grandmother, who does the cleaning at the archaeological site of the Tombs of Kasubi, part of the Unesco Heritage. As compensation, Grandma Nabuuso only receives food for the whole family. Should Grandma get sick there is no food ...

During the Summer, due to torrential rain, the clay house started to collapse, part of it is now uninhabitable and a part where the family still sleeps is very unsafe. With each passing day, Charles, Michael, Abraham, Madrine and Mark with their grandmother risk not having a roof over their heads.

NEW:
The owner of the land where the house was built decided not to renew the broken house and want the family to leave the house. The only solution now is to buy a new piece of land ... in Wakiso in the suburb of Kampala where the land is cheaper.

This GoFundme Project is divided in 3 steps by priority, we reached the first step:
1. Thank you to you we bought a piece of land in Wakiso 21 x 20 feet where to build the new house for the family
1.100,00 euro

2. Will help to build the house in a safe way with local materials and to ensure a home to grow for the children and a peaceful stay for the grandma
700,00 euro
3. Will provide weekly food deliveries for this family so that grandma can also rest after moving from Kampala to Wakiso
100,00 euro

Eria Sserugo will get the money from you all and will manage the planning and the realisation for this project.

We hope you will be interested in the project and you decide to support us.
We will keep you updated on the progress, thus on the decisions made and the renovation works. We will send you photos, videos and messages on the steps we will succeed thanks to you!

This family nice and corageous.
These children are happy, very brilliant, but vulnerable. They just need to grow up knowing there is much more to life: hope, joy and love. Just know that they are destined for greater things. We can save them from forced marriages, drug addiction and teenage pregnancies, and also from dropping out of school for reasons like not being able to afford a pencil or a school book, or hunger.

Love, a home and the school are everything :-)

Thank you so much in advance
Yours Faithfully Manuela, Nils, Eria, Giacomo and Annalena
