A Home For My Little Hero, Emmi

Donation protected
My name is Angela and I'd like to talk to you about my hero, my incredible daughter, Emmi. Emmi was first diagnosed with brain cancer on May 13, 2021. She has medulloblastoma that means thathat she has a brain tumor wrapped around her brain stem and spinal cord. She has gone underwent a tumor resection surgery, had 6 cycles of chemotherapy and radiation, not to mention the countless other procedures she has undergone while in the hospital.

We have been in the hospital with her, here at Boston Children's Hospital, for 231 days straight. She's been here for every holiday and every family birthday, including her own. We are also very far from home. Our family lives in Maine. Emmi is an incredible kid in so many ways, she is one sassy spitfire who is kind and sweet. Emmi is definitely a girly girl; she loves unicorns, sparkles, and rainbows but she also loves trucks, ATVs, mud, and animals.

Even with all that she is going through Emmi is quick-witted, happy and always puts others first. Even in the hospital, she will ask to send cards and packages to the people to send her get-well wishes. She will even refuse a toy to give it to another patient. That is just who she is. Emmi has an enormous heart and would rather give than receive.

After the tumor removal surgery, Emmi slipped into a completely vegetative state. This lasted for months. She couldn't speak, let alone move her arms or legs. Emmi was trapped in her body, she couldn't even blink to communicate with us or move her hands. All she could do for months was to let out this strange scream. I used to pray to God every night that she could tell us that she was okay.

One morning Emmi eventually began to shake her head "yes" and "no". The moment that it happened I thanked God. We finally had a way to know how Emmi was feeling.

Over time and through all her therapies she has made huge gains. I am amazed every day at my little superheroes' strength, determination, and optimism.

Emmi is determined to get through these last couple of months of this hospital stay and rehab therapy in order to get back home to Maine but we do not have a home to go home to.

We are starting this GoFundMe to ask for your help in bringing Emmi home.

Please help us to give her the home my little superhero deserves.
