A Home for Remi the Raven
Donation protected
As many of you know, I have been a volunteer at the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum for 9 years. Due to water damage at the Museum's Hogback overlook location, SVNHM closed the site for visitation in September and is in the process of moving offices and animals to its Wildlife and Education Center in Marlboro. The purpose of this Gofundme is to raise money to build an enclosure on my property in order to foster Remi the Raven, who we believe will better thrive in an environment with regular human contact.
Who is Remi? Remi is a non-releasable Raven who has been residing at the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum for 8 years. She has enchanted volunteers, staff and museum visitors with her beauty, intelligence, and antics. The community has learned a lot about Ravens by getting to know Remi, both by visiting and by social media posts. People have stated that because of Remi, they look at Corvids in a whole different way.
Why does she need to move? Ravens are extremely curious animals, and as such they need a variety of interactions and enrichment activities. With the move of many of our current animals to a new location, the SVNHM staff feel like Remi would be best served in a fostering situation, where the volunteers known as Team Remi can continue to work with her in a consistent environment. With this move, Remi will be much closer to the team of dedicated people who have been working with her for years. Remi will still be owned by SVNHM, with permission from VT Fish and Wildlife and the USDA.
The money raised will be used towards building an enclosure on my property that is safe and Raven-friendly. Ravens require a lot of stimulation, and the enclosure will have enrichment opportunities built into it.
Remi has changed a lot of people's minds about Ravens, and we want to make sure that she is as happy and comfortable as possible. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can make towards this project!
