A Chance for Amanda Quichocho Aquino: ESRD Journey
Donation protected
Greetings everyone, near and far,
This fundraiser is for my sister Amanda Aquino, her maiden name is Amanda Quichocho but some of you know her by her nickname Mandy Quichocho. She is 38 years old and has a family, a husband and two beautiful kids, ages 10 and 15. She was diagnosed with ESRD: Ending Stage Renal Disease, also known as kidney failure, in November 2012. Amanda has gone through so much in the last ten years of this horrendous disease. Countless times she has almost lost her life due to the complications that came along with this sickness. She had numerous ER visits and was admitted to the hospital countless times. She has fought through it all and continues to remain optimistic. However, in July 2022, she was rushed to GRMC, where she was fighting for her life. It was brought to our attention that she caught covid, and with her being a dialysis patient, her chances were very slim. She was in a coma with a ventilator in the ICU. Amanda kept fighting for her life and had to be revived twice. The doctor informed her husband that her chances were 50/50 and was faced with a life and death decision. He remembered past conversations with her on this topic and knew she would want to keep fighting. Our family, friends, and many others who knew Amanda, prayed for a miraculous recovery. We prayed for her to have a second chance at life. She fought for two days, and a miracle happened. She woke up and was responsive! Nurses and the doctor who helped care for her during that time were surprised by this miracle. Amanda was kept and monitored for the next few days. Finally, she was cleared for covid and returned home to her family. Her husband had to make the difficult decision of quitting his job to be her full-time caregiver and a full-time father to raise their kids. Her family helps the best they can, but we are struggling due to Guam's high cost of living. Amanda has been continuing her dialysis treatment, and her health is slowly declining still. She still goes through numerous ER visits and still gets admitted to the hospital due to the underlying complications that come with this sickness.
We continue to pray to God and thank everyone who stood by our side and helped pray for a miracle. We also thank those healthcare workers who did everything they could to help my sister during that difficult time. We still need your financial help to bring my sister Amanda Aquino and her family out to join me in Lemoore, California, where she will undergo treatment and be on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. Sadly, Guam does not have a waiting list for a kidney transplant, so she must relocate to the U.S. to be on one. I know this is a big thing to ask, but if you or anyone you know is willing to be a kidney donor, here is a list of things that you will need to know if you want to be our hero in saving her life:
-Know your blood type. (Her blood type is B+)
-Be a non-smoker.
-Have no history of illnesses, drugs, or alcohol abuse.
We greatly appreciate you and everyone who took the time to read and donate. We also greatly appreciate those of you who shared this post. Any amount of donation will be a great big help towards helping her on this journey. We are forever thankful for every one of you, and we will give an update when possible. Please help us give her a hopeful second chance at life for her and her family. Si yu’os ma’ase! (Thank you!).
