RAYMOND SHARPE, III aka MAN’S JOURNEY FROM DEATH’S DOOR TO A SECOND CHANCE.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for though art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
Hi, My name is Mary L Sharpe. I am a 75 year old mother of seven children with two suffering from a life of Congestive Heart Failure. This appeal is being made on behalf my 46 year old son Raymond aka Man, from his bedside at the University of Alabama UAB Hospital HTICU unit in Birmingham, AL.
After being called in Alabama on February 16th to come to Long Island immediately if we want to spend time with him and walking in finding him on life support, the Journey of Miracles began. After a few days of darkness the attending physician at Good Samaritan Hospital attempted unsuccessfully to have an “end of life” (death) discussion with me and my husband. My son was then transferred from Good Samaritan to St. Francis Hospital in Queens and later told there wasn’t much hope.
After much prayer and fasting I was led to move him to Dothan, AL “praying for a miracle.” With a heart full of hope, I was informed that the medication that sustained him by keeping his heart beating by law could not cross over state lines, nor could he survive over 24 hrs without it, nor travel by train, plane or car.
Once again, after being led by a divine power we rented an RV, flew my youngest son to NY, packed up his dog, belongings and finally my son himself and took off by Faith, headed to Dothan, AL with a 24 hr life span expectation, arriving at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan 23 hrs and 12 minutes later.
After being admitted in and out of the hospital in Dothan and once again being told all that can be done is keep him on the medication at home until his “time is finished “ and Hospice would assist us. At that point the Journey of Miracles continued.
All I could say was “But God.” I took my baby to my Primary Care Physician in Dothan through whom his Second Chance Journey of Miracles continued.
From the hospitals in New York to the hospital in Dothan, AL, after being told nothing else can be done, I was led to UAB in Birmingham, AL where God has allowed him a second chance.
I have not been within the walls of my home since April 25, 2023 and have found it necessary to put up a GO FUND ME in order to help with his life time medications necessary after a Heart Transplant which took place on June 26th along with Renal and Marfan Diseases. Currently he has three (3) active insurances but they will not cover but so much of the medical expenses inclusive of the 52 necessary Transplant, Renal and Marfan Diseases daily medications he must have for the rest of his life.
Our goal is $50K God willing. I plan to work very closely with Go Fund Me and guarantee that all donations will be properly acknowledged, administered and not extorted. Any amount will be appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your assistance and prayers.
