A Journey of Hope: Supporting Will Wilkins and His Family

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Mary Talbert and I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for support. I am fundraising for Whitney “Will” Wilkins and his family, who have been facing unimaginable challenges over the past few years.

In 2009, Will was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, which required him to take medication regularly. However, his health took a devastating turn when he contracted Covid in July 2022. The virus severely impacted his kidneys, causing kidney problems and high blood pressure. Will also experience diabetic comas, further complicating his condition.

As if that wasn't enough, in December 2022, Will contracted Covid again, leading him back to the ICU. During this time, he also began to lose his vision, adding to his already mounting health problems. Will underwent multiple eye surgeries in an attempt to restore his vision, and while he regained some sight in his right eye, he remains blind in both eyes due to the effects of diabetes.

To manage his deteriorating health, Will started dialysis three times a week in 2023. This, along with his ongoing battle with kidney problems, high blood pressure, and diabetic comas, has taken a toll on his overall well-being. His weakened heart has caused him to experience shortness of breath, making even the simplest tasks challenging. Despite his health struggles, Will, an IT Engineer, has tirelessly tried to work to support his family.

Tragically, in January 2024, while taking his daughter to school, Will lost his eyesight completely and was involved in a car accident. Miraculously, both he and his daughter escaped serious injury. However, this incident forced Will to take short-term disability and FMLA from his job. He continues to undergo eye surgeries, including cataract surgery, but his vision remains impaired. Unfortunately, when his FMLA ended in April 2024, Will was let go from his job, adding to the financial strain on the family.

Currently, Will's kidneys are not functioning, and he is in urgent need of a kidney transplant and a pancreas. His condition has left him completely blind, making everyday tasks incredibly challenging. His devoted wife, Martha, not only works a full-time job but also acts as his primary caretaker. However, her income is often reduced as she must accompany Will to dialysis and frequent doctor visits. As a result, Martha is now the sole provider for their family of four.
The funds we raise will be used to cover the extensive medical bills and necessary living expenses that have accumulated throughout this grueling journey. Will and Martha's unwavering faith in God sustains them, as they pray for a miraculous healing.

Your support and generosity will make a world of difference to this brave family as they navigate through these overwhelming challenges. Together, we can offer hope and help lighten their burden. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and compassion.
