A kidney for Eric Thatcher

Eric is in desperate need of a kidney transplant after his first transplant 2 years ago of a complete colon transplant in New York at Mt. Sinani Hospital. On February 12th, 2019 Eric was told that he was in complete kidney failure by his Nephrologist. Eric’s body started to shut down. We noticed he had labored breathing and fluid building up in his legs. Eric’s sister sat down and had a heart to heart talk with him explaining her concerns and asked that he get to the hospital right away to be checked. On Tuesday February 19th, 2019 Eric’s parents brought him to Faulkner Hospital in Boston. That day he had a port placed in his chest and emergency dialysis was started. Timing was everything at that point. He ended up in ICU for a couple of days after his receiving dialysis due to extremely high blood pressure and a headache they couldn’t get under control. On Friday February 22nd, 2019 Eric’s parents received a phone call that Eric would be discharged at 1pm they got ready to head up there to only find out that his blood work came back abnormal followed by an abnormal EKG then ended with an abnormal Echocardiogram. Eric was told by the staff at Faulkner Hospital that he would have to be transported to Brigham and Woman’s Hospital where he could be cared for on the cardiac care unit. The rapid kidney failure has done some damage to Eric’s heart and they are keeping a close eye on him thinking he might need to do catharization to his heart. He is currently in the long waiting list for a living donor. His entire family has been denied for being a donor for him due to medical conditions and medications. The money we are trying to raise is to help out with the expenses of traveling for Eric’s parents back and forth between Boston and New York for his doctors visits. Both parents have taking an early retirement to care for Eric. We also want to be able to help out the person who is able to help save Eric’s life when the time comes.
