A Kidney for Papa Jay

We are starting this GoFundMe page for our friend Jay Engelman.  Jay is the most loving and dedicated husband to his wife of 43 years, Chana, his two kids and four grandkids. 

On December 26, 2010, Jay was on his way to relieve some of his employees for the holiday when he was T-Boned and rushed into emergency surgery for a neck and spinal cord injury.  After a long recovery, Jay was told he has Chronic Kidney Disease.  We believe that all of the medications and contrast from the many MRI’s that were necessary for his recovery contributed to Jay’s CKD. 

He has been on dialysis for 9.5 hours/day for almost a year, which removes waste and cleans his blood.  It is mentally and physically exhausting and has taken precious time away from traveling to see his kids and grandkids.

His wife Chana, two kids, siblings and niece were tested and unfortunately were not found to be a match.

He always goes out of his way to help others and desperately needs some help from all of us.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your compassion and generosity. Let’s spread the word and get Jay all healed up so he can get back to doing what he loves--spending time with his family and running around with his grandkids!

Funds are needed for:
-The costly anti-rejection drugs that will be a life long expense. 
-Travel, accommodations, and time off work for his donor.
