A Kidney for ROn

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,

This great guy right here is Ronald (Ron) Chisolm. He is a loving husband, father of 4 boys and 1 girl, grandfather, son, brother, godfather, and uncle. He is a proud employee of the Charlotte Douglas Airport (shuttle driver) and President of the Untamed Kingz Motorcycle club. He is an all-around great guy and friend.

Some of you may know that he has Kidney disease. Over time his Kidney disease has gotten worse causing his kidneys not to work well enough to keep him alive. This is what he is facing now, and his treatment options are limited to dialysis treatment or a kidney transplant.

Getting regular dialysis three times a week for four hours at a time, will help his kidneys do their job and keep him alive, but a transplant would offer him more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier and more normal life. A transplant would also give him more time to do the fun things he enjoys the most, such as spending time with his grandchildren, his family, friends and leading his motorcycle club.

Finding a kidney for transplant is not easy and. It can be very expensive. Currently, we are seeing help with two things:  raising money for the transplant and looking for a living donor.  The average cost of a Kidney transplant is   $143,500.00. Insurance covers some cost, but not all (medication, transportation etc are out of pocket expenses.). With this in mind, we are raising money to support Ron as he begins this journey.  As can be expected there will be extensive out of pocket expenses. We're hoping that you can assist with alleviating some of the cost related to the kidney transplant, needed medications, and care during recovery. We hope to raise $15,000 by October 5th.  This will allow Ron to be placed on the transplant list and ensure a smooth transition into this process and ensure Ron will not have to stress over medication, medical bills, aftercare, or transportation.

Help us give Ron what he needs and deserves – A fighting chance!

If you are interested in possibly donating a Kidney it is important to know time is not on our side. Some wait for years: many die while waiting. The average wait time is five years or more for a kidney from a deceased donor. There is another option: Receiving a kidney from a living donor. Asking a family member or friend to consider donating a kidney to Ron is difficult. But it greatly improves his chances of getting a transplant. A living kidney donation typically lasts longer and has better function.
