To fulfill a last wish for Bondy
Donation protected
It is with great sadness that we, friends of Alan & Sacha Bond, share this news with you.
Neither are aware of this go fund me page on their behalf, so we ask that this remains confidential.
As you may, or may not, be aware The Bonds have been facing the worst challenge a family should ever have to endure.
In 2021, Alan was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and, after a successful operation and significant treatment, the prognosis looked good. However, the cancer has now spread. And it has won. There is nothing that the doctors can do. At just 46 years old, this family will imminently be losing a husband, father, son and brother and we will be losing a dear friend.
Bondy & Sacha’s love story reads like an 80’s romcom. They have known each other since they were teenagers meeting at the infamous “Plough” Downside. While there was some serious flirting for many years the universe put many obstacles in love’s way and they didn’t get together until their 30s, over a game of corks. Even their decision to live together was unconventional and they chose to cohabitate in “Ting Tong”, their canal boat.
After surviving in such close quarters on the River Thames for a few years, it was obvious they were meant to be but they decided to move onto dry land and bought their first home in Surbiton. This is where their lives changed forever, bringing two amazing, beautiful human beings into the world, their daughters Betsy and Beau. Finally, the last part of the Bond puzzle was complete with the addition of their gorgeous bulldog, Ethel.
In November 2020, and because of the pandemic, the sneaky duo decided to elope to say “I do”. Last year they bought their dream house in Liphook but couldn’t move in straight away so spent 6 months, while Alan was in recovery, house hopping. Finally, just in time for Christmas, the five of them moved in looking forward to their future together.
This has been tragically cut short. Bondy is now in hospital and will not be coming home.
As a family, they have never been on a trip abroad. Having survived the initial cancer and the operation, Bondy & Sacha were planning to do that trip this year. Betsy and Beau were super excited about going on an aeroplane for the first time and it has long been a dream to take the girls to Disney World. Sadly, that will now not happen as a complete family.
The coming months, years, will be a very dark time for the whole family but especially for Sacha, Betsy and Beau. When faced with losing someone, especially at such a young age, those around them will feel utterly helpless and ask themselves what they can do.
Tragically there is nothing anyone can do, but rather than send flowers or similar we have set up this page so that loved ones can donate towards this trip to make it as magical as we can for them.
While nothing will replace losing a husband and father, this could offer a glimmer of light at such a sad time.
Sacha being such an independent spirit, isn't one to ask for help and does not know about the intention to ask for contributions so we ask that you don't discuss it with her so as not to cause any additional stress at this horrific time.
Should you wish to express your condolence you can do so here and your contribution can be accompanied with a personal message and will be gratefully received.
Please do forward this with anyone who you feel might like to participate, You can share the link via text, WhatsApp, email etc.
Thanking you all in advance for your kind generosity.
