Support needy children to pay school fees in Kenya

All money collected goes to pay school fees for children in Meru, Kenya

Dear all,

Two years ago in December 2021, I requested for a Christmas gift from friends and colleagues in support of children’s education in Kenya through the Generation Hope Education Fund (GHEF) – a programme I initiated a few years ago.

With the money we raised, we have supported 115 children including orphans, children from single-parent households, or children from families in very difficult circumstances due to illness or drug abuse. The majority of the children only got partial educational support.

I wish to share some good news that one of the children we supported - Yvonne graduated last November (2023) from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor of Science (Health records and information management). Her sister Melody will continue her education at the same institution where she is pursuing a degree in educational sciences. Both children are orphans and live with a well-wisher named Ruth who only provides housing, and has been unable to pay for their education. Another girl Dorothy, who had dropped out of University is also in her last year of studies at Kenya Methodist University and will graduate with a degree as a teacher of agriculture in 2024.

Since 2021, the GHEF programme has been fully educating 10 students through the payment of tuition fees in colleges and secondary schools. Four are in colleges and universities while 6 are in secondary schools. These children are once again in need of financial support to ensure they continue with their education. Without our support, they will be at a great risk of dropping out of school.

I humbly call upon you to consider giving a Christmas gift in support of Generation Hope Education Fund to enable us to fulfill the educational ambitions of these children. The average annual tuition fee in Kenyan secondary schools per child is on average NOK 4500 which is a huge amount to families living below two dollars a day. Kindly consider supporting us with any amount you can.
