Lumière Scheme & Backup - Sponsored Walk
Sam Bowden from Chauvet along with Tom Lightbody from the ALPD Exec are raising funds for the Lumière Design & Production Schemes to run in 2022 and to support the much needed work of Backup. Our sponsored walk will commence from the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon and finish at the National Theatre in London.
Alongside this, Tamykha Patterson, Lucy Carter & Charlotte Burton from the ALPD will also be walking the same distance of 101 miles and logging their walking throughout September.
About the ALPD's Lumière Scheme
The Lumière Scheme is designed to create a pathway for lighting practitioners into the world of live performance. Now called Design Lumière, previously we have ran the scheme to encourage and develop the roles of assistants and associates. We excited to be launching the Production Lumière Scheme this September - A virtual scheme that will focus on the roles of production electricians and programmers.
Our aim for 2022 is to run both the Production Lumière and Design Lumière, both providing a six-month paid position, giving individuals the opportunity to work on a range of productions.
About Backup - The Technical Entertainment Charity
Backup is the UK’s registered charity that provides financial support to industry technical professionals, crew/production personnel and people working in the technical supply chain across the UK entertainment industry including those from live events, theatre, TV and film.
Backup grants have brought help, support and hope to industry members and their families during some of their darkest hours.
In light of the devastating impact of COVID-19, Backup created a Hardship Fund, which provides limited financial assistance to those most in need.
