A little help for Elaine and Martin

Hi my name is Nick Scirrotto and I work with Martin. We both work at a company that treats employees like family and I wanted to help provide an opportunity to help out a work family member and his family. Martin provided this account of what's recently flipped he and his wife's life upside down.

"On the morning of September 1st my wife Elaine had 3 seizures. She has never had one before so I called 911. They brought her to Virtua Marlton where they gave her anti-seizure medication and took CT scans and an MRI. The scans revealed a “Mass” on her brain. She was then transferred to Virtua Camden where their Neurology department is. After undergoing more tests, we met with a Neuro Surgeon and it was decided that Brain Surgery was needed to remove the tumor. The surgery removed as much as possible without further damaging her brain. Elaine then spent two weeks in a skilled nursing facility to start to relearn to walk and use her left hand again.

Elaine is now home again but the house has to have some mods to make it safe and accessible for her to navigate and the Medical expenses are already starting to build up. She has a long road ahead of her as the type of cancer she has is Glioblastoma. This nasty cancer is very aggressive and when someone is diagnosed with it, they are instantly Stage 4.

In the next few weeks, she will be starting Chemo and Radiation therapy 5 days a week for 6 weeks. This will be a very difficult process, but the only course of treatment for her. Please send positive energy her way."

As with so many forms of this awful disease, insurance only covers so much, medical bills start adding up immediately. Each day seems to bring a new unexpected cost be it financial, physical, or emotional. My hope here is that, together, we can ease a small bit of the burden for Martin's family as they work this new normal.
