A little help for Mishell

Hi all. My name is Brittney and this gofundme is for my mom, Mishell.

On Sunday Sept 24th, my mom was walking home from the store and was hit by a car about 100 feet from her front door. The people stopped, forced my mother up and tried to get her to get in their car to take her home. According to witnesses, the driver then freaked out, drove off and came back right before the cops came, leaving my mom on the side of the street. Thankfully there was a bystander who called 911, stayed with her, my mom called me and a ambulance came within a couple minutes.

My mom suffered a broken tailbone, sacrum and a fractured L5 (bone in the lower back). She was hit on the side that she has a previous injury to when she was a teenager so that flared up bad. Covered in bumps and bruises and can’t walk without some assistance.

Those who know my mom, you know she never asks for a thing. She has always given the last of whatever she had to someone else who would need it. She taught us growing up that we may not have a lot; but we have more than others, and where ever we can help, we should.

My mom is the primary caretaker for my sister who needs around the clock care. She walks to pick up my daughter from school 2-3 days a week. (I work full time as a EMT for the FDNY.) She doesn’t drive, so she walks everywhere. Now with these injuries, it’s secluding her to house, providing challenges for her, my sister and myself.

All donations will go to out-of-pocket costs my mom will have getting to and from appointments when I am unable to take her (ubers, etc.), food deliveries, and anything medical that comes up that requires up front payment.
