A Liver for Kristi

Donation protected

2020 need I say more? It’s definitely a year of “firsts” for so many.  It’s the year Kristi first heard the words, “You will either need a liver transplant or we will just make you comfortable”. These are life changing words.  These words not only changed her life but changed her focus.  Her focus is to fight.

This is Kristi Henshaw Fuqua from Sweetwater, Texas.  In 2018 she wanted to improve her health by having weight loss surgery.  Since the surgery, she has been on a journey of firsts due to complications.  She’s been hospitalized numerous times.  She’s had several surgeries, became severely malnourished,  developed severe neuropathy and now is in need of a liver. She was recently diagnosed with a chronic liver disease. She has been in a battle for her life.

Kristi is a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.  She is known as outgoing, caring, strong willed and independent.  If someone is in need, she is the first to volunteer.  She has never met a stranger and has a charismatic personality.  Anyone who meets Kristi would agree that she has an undeniably warm spirit and an infectious smile.  She is a hard worker and is not one to ask for help, even in the smallest of things.  She has been known to hold down two jobs at a time.  She is definitely not afraid to work.  For the first time in her life she is the one in need.  She is in need of your help.  With medical expenses piling up and a liver transplant in her future, she can’t work.  Kristi has a long road ahead.  She has trips to the ER, as well as, trips to Dallas to the Liver Transplant Institute for ongoing tests, procedures and doctors' appointments.  Each trip includes hotel, meals and the rising cost of gas.  Kristi has other bills in addition to past, present and future medical bills.

We are all aware that transplants are costly.  The costs look daunting.  It is our hope that Kristi will not have to stress or worry about how she will pay her bills.  She has already sold or given away almost everything she owns.  Her family and I are asking for your help.  If you have never given to a go-fund me account, let this be a first for you.  All gifts received will assist with the significant medical and other financial expenses incurred during this process and to help Kristi during her recovery.

We are optimistic that Kristi’s strong willed spirit along with the support of all who love her, will carry her through this extremely difficult time.  If you are looking for ways to help, we ask that you start with prayer. Please lift Kristi and the medical team up often.  Secondly, we ask that you give.  Any amount given is greatly appreciated.  If you are unable to give, we ask that you please share this link.  May God bless you for sharing monetarily, as well as, through prayer. Thank you for helping Kristi as she continues in the battle of her life.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

May God bless each of you.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Mullican
