500KM Charity Challenge Fundraiser- June 2020

Dearest Friends,  Myself, Sharon & Caroline have decided to do an online fundraiser for The Koinonia Trust. This is a registered charity over in Liberia. As you know, this is a charity that is close to my heart and was founded by my mum Frances several years ago. Frances, continues to travel between Ireland & Liberia on a Voluntary basis. Like so many other charities, the Koinonia Trust relies on annual fundraisers to keep the project work going. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, previous funding strands are uncertain now, as they are focused on emercency relief.  We are facing uncertain times.  While the Liberian Government have shut down the project work temporary due to covid-19; work is continuing but in a different way. At the moment the Trust is focused on establishing and strengthening community supports in the area. Momo, who is on the ground is checking in with the locals and developing resources that will be used in the educational projects when they get up and running again.  Meanwhile, us gals have decided to get out, get walking & utilise the online way to fundraise.  We are asking all our friends near & far to get behind us and support us as we strive towards a combined target of 500km this month, in an effort to raise funds and keep the work alive in Liberia. We believe it is such a worthy cause & we want to see the service continue.  Where will the funds go? Funds raised can help support project workers to continue to facilitate the educational projects along with helping with some of the following; Educational project-  After-School Home-Work Club saw 92 Children in attendance 3 afternoons per week, supporting with reading development. In addition some older teenagers are supported with grinds in high school.
