A Long Ride for a Long Time Friend
Donation protected
I will be attempting, what might be my last ever long solo bike ride, to try and raise money towards potentially lifesaving cancer treatment for an old friend.
My friend Jon, who I have been friends with for coming up to 20 years, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months back. This has now spread to his liver. His only chance now is to raise a huge sum of money for private cancer treatment. He is halfway there, but there is still a way to go.
I am going to attempt a ride from Winchester (where we first met) to Southampton (where we started hanging out) and then on to Brighton (where we have been neighbours for many years) in a day. This is around 80 miles or so.
This is going to be a massive personal challenge because even though this used to be something I would do regularly, a series of health problems (welcome to the 40s) have meant I have not done a ride of any real length for a long time. I also have no time to train, not that I ever did in the past! But I’m going to get on that bike on Wednesday 29th May, and I’m going to go for it, and your support will make ALL the difference.
I’ve stuck in the first £100. Anything you can spare, however small, will really go a long way.
Thank you so much.
