Bud Mathieu
Bud has been swimming for 51 years, since his freshman year in HS at Oak Park River Forest. He then swam at U of Illinois from '75 to '78 where he was teammates with Doug. He has done the Big SHoulders swim at least 15 times since the 90s. He swims competitively with Krista and Carrie with "Elgin Blue wave" in Elgin. Last summer he completed his first 10K swim -- "Swim to the Moon". This race was through the Hiland Chain of Lakes in Hell, Michigan; where he "had a blast." Bud has also done a couple of other ALS events in recent years; one in Crystal Lake and again at the Tower Road Beach. Bud lives in Bartlett with his wonderful wife Laurie; and has 5 adult children; "I have 3 and she has 2, so we are quite busy and involved in their lives." "I'm excited to do this new event and help Doug and ALS to "Swim for the Cure".
Erin Randle
Erin is an accomplished triathlete, marathon runner, open water swimmer, and swims for the Elgin Blue Wave masters swim team. She has swam in numerous open water races ranging in distances everywhere from the 1.2 mile to the 2.4 mile, as well as, several Big Shoulders 5k's, and has even raced the marathon distance at the Swim to the Moon 10k.
Tim Mathieu
Tim is an experienced distance swimmer from the suburbs. In addition to having collegiate swim experience from EIU he has completed several triathlons. This will be his first ALS swim event.
Krista Cimiilluca
Krista Cimilluca is a former high school and college swimmer, at The University of Rochester. She is currently 12 year member of the Elgin Blue Wave masters swim team. She's completed three Big Shoulders 5k races and a two year relay member for the Swim For Freedom 8.5 Mile Lake Geneva swim.
