A Mano Employee Relief
Donation protected
Dear friends and community members,
As a direct result of the COVID-19 crisis, restaurants across the Bay Area are being forced to shut down—locally owned and corporate alike. Inevitably, this is having a drastic effect on the immediate livelihoods of restaurant employees everywhere, including employees of our beloved a Mano in the heart of Hayes Valley. With all business at a standstill, a Mano was forced to lay off all of our hourly employees last week. Like most Bay Area restaurant workers, we live paycheck to paycheck. Most of us have no alternative sources of income, many of us have entire families to support, and all of us are facing the horrifying reality of no income for a handful of months at the very least (assuming a Mano is able to reopen at all, post-global pandemic).
A Mano prides itself on having an incredibly unique identity amidst a plethora of popular San Francisco restaurants. We are a relatively small staff that is fortunate enough to serve over 500 guests every day: locals, new residents, international tourists, and everyone in between. Being a part of a Mano is an exceptional experience for all of us as seasoned restaurant staff. As far as a business goes, this is a family in the truest sense of the word. Our connection to one another, to a Mano, and to the community we serve is an integral part of our lives. That's why we come together during this incredibly difficult time, to humbly ask our community for help.
Any donation at all is so deeply appreciated, and means everything to our employees during this trying time of uncertainty. This fundraiser is for the sole purpose of supplementing all laid off hourly a Mano employees in the months ahead to meet our basic needs without income. We are hoping tirelessly that a Mano is eventually able to reopen with as much vigor and commitment as we aim for on the floor every day.
We appreciate our community's support, and we cannot wait to see you all again.
Love,
The entire a Mano team
