A man’s journey through blood cancer- TWICE
Donation protected
Today my battleground is staked against AML (leukemia), facing a difficult prognosis once again in the face of blood cancer.
My first bout was in February 2016, hospitalized and diagnosed with multiple myeloma and kidney failure. Odds were not in my favor, but thanks to my bullish nature, great nurses, doctors, and support of family and friends; I survived beat the odds. After a successful stem cell transplant in July of 2016 at The Blood Cancer Institute in Denver (St. Luke’s Medical Center), the toughest thing I’ve ever been through, but I was able to continue life’s journey. It took me 11 1/2 months to return back to work parttime, but grateful for second chances and the time with family and friends.
I am back again in the care of The Blood Cancer Institute in Denver, and hospitalized since January 17, 2022. I’ve had one intense cycle of Chemotherapy for a week, nature surviving the side effects which have been no less than brutal. The plan is to start me on a clinical trial around the middle of February. Again I will need to stay in Denver for a 21-day treatment cycle, 1-3 days in the hospital each week. If that goes according to plan, and remission is achieved, I will then hope to find a bone marrow match, and go through the bone marrow transplant to put all of this behind me.
I have felt the outpouring of love and prayers from family and friends in the past and in the present. It has lifted my spirit and sustained me on many occasions and through my lowest of lows. Now, and in the face of this new trial, I am in need of financial assistance to ensure I can stay here in Denver to continue treatment through this long haul. It’s a big ask and it humbled me to have to ask for help. I am reminded that God has not designed us to go through life alone, and I am grateful for the many friends and family he has placed in my life that mean so much to me. Thank you for considering my request.
Sincerely,
