THE "A MEAL TODAY, A MEAL TOMORROW" CAMPAIGN:
An initiative to support local food-insecure students and restaurants in Chicago

OUR MISSION:

With the coronavirus keeping people home, not only are schools and students affected, but businesses too. Many Chicago students rely on schools for their meals. During this scary time, students can thankfully still pick up some meals at schools, but they need more help.  In addition, families with parents or students working at restaurants are struggling to earn a living as people are unable to go out for awhile. Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone.

Food-insecure students need more support, and local restaurants during this time need help making up for lost income, to keep their businesses going and pay their workers. Our campaign can help both!

This GoFundMe campaign raises money to purchase gift cards from local Chicago restaurants and groceries to provide to Chicago's local food-insecure students.  The CPS Children First Fund has committed to helping us distribute these gift cards. You can contribute funds here for us to purchase the gift cards..... OR....

HOW A MEAL TODAY, A MEAL TOMORROW WORKS:

For every gift card amount a person purchases from a participating restaurant, they’ll get back a gift card worth 80% of that amount. The remaining 20% will be put on a separate gift card made out to A Meal Today, A Meal Tomorrow and should be emailed to the address [email redacted]. For example, if a customer purchases a $50 gift card, they will get a $40 card for themselves and a $10 gift card will be made out to A Meal Today, A Meal Tomorrow.

Or a person can choose the Do-It-Yourself option and order e-gift cards from ANY Chicago restaurant – sending one to the [email redacted]. You can also mail restaurant gift cards to:

TELL US IF YOU WANT TO SUPPORT A SPECIFIC COMMUNITY OR SCHOOL IN CHICAGO:

Although the gift card can come from ANY Chicago restaurant, you can request which school's students or community to support.

So, whether you donate money here or send a gift card, make sure that the school or community you want to support is included somewhere on the card, in the email with the card or on this site. Otherwise, we will choose based on where students need them most in Chicago.

The CPS Children First Fund will help us distribute these gift cards to local food-insecure students and families.

WE NEED YOUR HELP:

In order to begin really helping all students, we have to make sure that their local communities support them. Let’s start by making sure they don’t have to go without enough food when they already have so much else to worry about, beyond a dangerous virus. Let’s do that by supporting Chicago restaurants and grocers as well.
