A Merry Haiti Christmas

IM GOING TO HAITI NEXT WEEK!
12/13-12/22, 2016
Friends, if you've followed my FB posts the past few months or know about my visit to Haiti in 2015, then you know I have a deep love for Haiti and it's people. If not, now you do!
I felt a desperate need to go back to Haiti after Hurricane Matthew but the timing was not right. People have lost everything and I have the opportunity to use this next week to gather supplies and make some children very happy this Christmas.
Who wants to help?
I will be collecting money and organizing the purchase of uniforms, toothbrushes and toothpaste, along with some gifts for the kids.
I literally just bought my ticket a few minutes ago and I'm all in! (12/6)
Dame Marie is one of the most remote areas of Haiti and was completely destroyed by Hurricane Matthew - people lost everything and there has not been much aid. People are starving.
Money will be used for travel, to buy supplies and also on ground in Haiti - like FOOD. We can purchase food in Port Au Prince and bring it do Dame Marie, which will be a 10-14 hour car ride. The only way to get these items there is to physically bring them in.
If I don't have enough money, I'll pay for it myself, and if there is extra, I will donate to an on ground group in Haiti.
Who is willing to collaborate with supplies?
Who wants to help pack up this weekend?
Who can offer financial support?
We can do this!!!!
Merci,
Catrina
Breakdown of expenses:
- travel $2000
- children's books $2000
- supplies (solar powered flashlights, toys, chess sets, stockings, gifts for children) $3000-5000
- Teaching supplies and crafts $1000
- educational materials $1000
- uniforms $4000
- toothbrushes/toothpaste TBD
- I will also have to pay for extra luggage and fees, but the only way to get these much needed items to remote Haiti is to bring them personally:)
I've been paying for all of this up front, so I will use the funds to reimburse myself. Anything left over will be donated to Solidarity Dame Marian Inc., a 501c3 charity.
