A Mom in Need: Penny Joy Johnson

Hi friends—for those of us that know me, my family means everything to me and at the very center of that is my mom. This month, we had a traumatic start to it, with mom ending up in the emergency room before being admitted to Duluth’s Miller-Dwan hospital for mental health. She suffered a psychotic break after seeing too much trauma in this lifetime. She is surrounded by love and her family as we face this head-on together.

The doctors have placed my mom (Penny Joy Johnson) on a medical leave of absence from work so that she can focus on healing and mental wellness. We are currently working on getting her on short term disability, but she was told it would be 60 days or more before she starts to get paid.

In order to stay afloat, between hospital and regular old bills, I’ve started this fundraiser to help keep her fed, to pay for her medication, and frankly, to stay alive.
