A Mother of Five has incurable stage 4 bile cancer

Donation protected

My name is Amanda Freemantle and as of November 2018 I’ve been diagnosed and battling a Klatskin Tumor it is Extremely Rare and occurs in only 1.2 out of 100,000 Cancer patients. My husband has always just managed to maintain the bills to support us and our (5) five children.

As some of you know this has been a hard few years on our family, with the finding of my bile duct cancer, being placed on a liver transplant list (still hoping that comes to fruition. Radiation’s treatments, chemotherapy treatments, radio frequency ablations, internal bleeds. Etc…) and all the trials that come along with that.

  • I just recently was released from St. Joseph Hospital after a about week long stay, under going five blood transfusions and a bad platelet transfusion that had to flushed from my system before it had the chance to really do some damage to me, (put simply my body went into shock, spiking a temp. of 102.8, my heart went into tachycardia and I started to get cold chills of which they would not allow me to try to warm myself because it could exacerbate my temp.) during my stay they found that I was continually losing hemoglobin (red blood cells) after an upper GI endoscopy and a colonoscopy they couldn’t definitively tell me where the internal bleed was coming from. Just told me what I had already told them, that I had hemmroids and possibly an umbilicus hernia that needed correcting. So instead of correcting those while they we already inside where it would have been easy to fix both, they released me from the hospital without stopping the bleed. Informing that I need to make outpatient procedure appoints with the GI specialist to have the hemmroids removed and the hernia fixed… not only this the blood transfusions caused extreme edema from my lower back down, and reduce me to wearing two layers of compression socks to try and keep the swelling down along with taking a dietetic which is not good for me to try and push more excess fluid out of my lower limbs.
  • After being released, about an hour later my daughters high school calls to inform me that my eldest daughter has tested positive for Covid and has been sent home to quarantine, be it that I haven’t made it home yet as I need to get scripts for my meds.
  • Half an hour later the junior high and elementary tell me that because they heard about my daughter having Covid that my younger three were to stay home and quarantine as well, but have not been tested.
  • Luckily my oldest son at This time had already been placed on quarantine because one of his wrestling team mates came down with Covid putting him in mandatory quarantine. (He tested negative and still is along with myself.) but my son had some rapid tests the school sent him home with.
  • With these my middle son and husband Nick took these to test themselves to protect me as much as possible being that I have no immune system. BOTH tested positive….
  • So my husband had everyone lock down in thee rooms when I came home and had sanitized the house before I came in.
  • The next day my two youngest were tested by the school and BOTH came back positive.
  • So my and my son paul at this time are the only ones negative. But, during these two days my middle son Wyatt started to break out in a severe rash… (he is extremely allergic to poison oak) and was rushed to the ER after his eyes almost swollen shut. They gave him progesterone and the steroid shot to calm it. So now he is not only going through the symptoms of Covid but dealing with everything that comes with poison oak.
  • To top the cake so to speak my husband being a business owner of Arcata Muffler had to close our doors for quarantine, so I leaving us without an income for the next few weeks… to say we are showing the wares of stress and are struggling at this time is an understatement.
  • During this time five of my family are reduced to staying in their rooms while I’m supposed to be on resting and reviving and making appointments for outpatient surgery to figure out my bleeding problem. And I’m supposed to restart chemotherapy later this month as well.
  • This has left only myself and my eldest son to care for my family making them meals sealing them and leaving outside their doors knocking when to retrieve and knocking when to collect the dirties so they don’t expose me to the virus (I am vaccinated btw) while also using our phones to communicate when someone is coming out of a room to use a restroom and the like.
  • During much of the day I am reduced to being somewhere else away from my home because of the risk of infection to myself being within their proximity.
  • We are asking for love and kindness in any form of donation that is available to help us during our time of need. (A prayer, a meal, a gift card, a well wish.)

Thank you so much for all your love and support.
