A New Heart for Baby Taru

We are friends and family of Praveena and Travis, raising money on their behalf as they await a new heart for their son. Taru is a 16 month old toddler who was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) that affects 1 out of every 100,000 kids. As a result of this diagnosis, Taru has been added to the national pediatric heart transplant registry, and is currently awaiting a new heart.

Taru is such a happy and sweet little boy and instantly charms everyone he meets. He loves being in nature, tapping along to music, playing with his big (furry) brother Atticus, and eating avocados. He was just starting to take his first steps before his illness.

We have created this GoFundMe to support Taru and his family through the pre and post transplant phases. Taru is currenlty being treated at Hassenfeld Children's Hospital in New York where he will remain in care until a heart becomes available, a process that could take up to 6-12 months. Taru will then require 12+ months of post-operative care including frequent clinical visits and specialized in-home care as he recovers. He will require a lifelong regimen of daily medications and regular clinical visits to follow his condition.
