A new heart for Katie

I am Ashley Garner. Katie Anthony is my sister and brother-in-laws precious niece. Katie, better known as KK, is loved by all who know her. She is a special soul with a beautiful spirit and loves and supports all of her family and friends. Katie was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure about 7 years ago and has been fighting it since then. She has been on all medicines they can provide for it and had a defibrillator put in about year into treatment in hopes it would help get her heart function above 20%. In October, she went to the cardiologist because she wasn’t feeling well and noticed she physically couldn’t do a lot of things she could do in months prior and they did some testing and found that her heart function had gotten significantly worse. The Heart Failure Team here in Greenville has done all they can and MUSC needed to get involved. She was sent for an evaluation for transplant. She got approved the week after Thanksgiving for transplant.

This heart transplant will cost

her $15,000 before she will be approved for the heart. She is a single, hard working young lady and has lost a lot in her lifetime, including her amazing mom and her incredibly special brother with special needs, and more recently her two very supportive grandparents. She has a lot of wonderful family, but I thought this would be the perfect place

for friends, friends of friends, etc. to give to such a special cause. Any little bit will help!
