A New Horizon for Here With Us

Here With Us has rescued 150 animals since opening in 2019. We have consistently opened our hearts and home to animals who were in critical condition, had special needs, were unwanted, abused, or were destined for slaughter. We LOVE what we do and we plan to put in the work on behalf of farm animals for the rest of our lives. And as much as we love this little property (we have just under 6 acres, only 4 of them usable) and this space that has offered a soft landing to so many souls in need, we have outgrown it. We need more room. We need more pasture for the cows, more rooting room for the pigs, a bigger playground for the goats, and more structures and land area for our chickens. They are safe here and they are happy here, but they need and deserve more freedom to roam. I want to give them that room to roam, and we want to continue rescuing more animals, but we cannot do it without your help.

 

While giving our residents more space, and providing homes for more animals are important reasons we need more land, they’re not the only reasons. We currently have no space or facilities to hold fundraising events such as art shows, auctions, bingos, galas, or yoga and meditation programs - key events that could be held throughout the year to help us feed and provide medical care to the animals, build and maintain facilities (or structures), and create educational/outreach programs. Here With Us has accomplished so much over the last three years, but we want to accomplish SO MUCH MORE.

 

We received a call about a month ago from Gina Beck, the founder of Huckleberry Trails Animal Sanctuary. If you follow her page, you know that she was consumed by a hoarding case over the winter when the owner passed away of Covid. This endeavor of taking care of two properties went on for three months and has taken a toll on her. Unfortunately, symptoms from her auto-immune disease, Guillain-Barre, have flared up and she is struggling to keep up with daily tasks. Because of this, she asked us if we were interested in purchasing her land, knowing that it would remain a place of peace, love, and comfort for rescued farm animals.

The property, located in Shermans Dale, PA, is 20 acres. There are brand new buildings and fencing, 11 separate pastures, and plenty of room for grazing and playing. The property is perfect for our residents. As sanctuaries who started up within just a few months of each other, we have watched each other grow, supported each other, and cheered each other on along the way. We cannot tell you how much it would mean for the future of Here With Us if we could raise enough funds to purchase this property. Purchasing Huckleberry Trails not only will give the residents of Here With Us more space, and allow us to continue rescuing farm animals in need, but it means the current residents of Huckleberry Trails will get to stay at their home where they are safe and comfortable.

We know our initial fundraising goal is lofty; we are looking to raise $100,000 by mid-July. We cannot do that without your help. We need every single person in the animal-loving community to help us meet our goal.
