A New Kidney For Maia

Donation protected
Maia is my 29 year old daughter who was born with a kidney condition that caused her to go into kidney failure at the age of 4 months.  After 8 months of grueling dialysis, Maia was given a new lease on life in the form of a kidney transplant.  Now, nearly 29 years later, that miracle transplant has failed and Maia has again started dialysis.  Maia is a Certified Surgical Technologist who is no longer able to work due to her current medical condition.  Kidney failure and dialysis have left Maia a mere shell of herself.  Maia has gone from a young professional with outside interests in modeling and acting, to a young woman who at times cannot walk unaided.  Maia is unable to care for herself both personally and financially.  Her dad and I are now living with her and taking care of her 5 days a week while her fiancé, who is a veteran and full time student at the University of Tennessee,  works in the Veterans office at the university.  Maia is on the donor list at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and in addition we are actively seeking live donors.  Maia is blood type O+ and can receive a kidney of either O+ or O-.

I am crowd sourcing on behalf of Maia to help raise funds for her medical expenses and her day-to-day expenses, such as rent.  As equally important, tho, I am also trying to get the word out about Maia’s need for a type “O” kidney.  We are looking for someone who has an extra kidney and is interested in becoming a hero and saving Maia’s life.

Thank you for taking the time to read Maia’s story.  Any assistance is truly appreciated.
