New life/liver for Jeffrey C. Alves

Hi my name is Jeffrey Alves and I am writing this on behalf of my dad Jeff. You may know him from a variety of places, you could have gone to school with him in Narragansett or at the University of Rhode Island. You could have worked with him in travel where he spent almost 20 years teaching and training future salespeople to help them on their career path. Or you may know him from all the different sports that he coached when I was growing up; soccer, baseball, football, basketball you name it; he was involved and he made a lot of friends and touched a lot of lives along the way really, touched a lot of lives in all the different places I mentioned above.
What you may not know is that my dad is dying. He has a terminal illness and was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease out of the blue and has already outlived his prognosis. I'll never forget when he came back from his, as he called "50 year-old checkup” from the doctor and expected everything to be okay, but the doctor found issues with his liver.
Thank God Dr. S found that. He immediately went for tests the next day and they confirmed that his liver was barely functioning and was not able to be fixed and his only chance was a full liver transplant. I'll never forget it because it was the day before Thanksgiving in 2017. It's amazing how we say it's a cliché that your life can change in an instant, but it really can I'm here as proof of that. He tried to keep a brave face during that time but my mom and I and saw that it was just a shock to him. 2018 was probably the worst year of his life going from his regular weight of 210 lbs all the way down to 148 at one point, so weak he could barely move; bleeding internally every other week and going into the hospital to the point where he just stayed there. But towards the end of the year the medications they gave him seemed to work they found the right mix to at least extend his life while waiting for a liver transplant.
In 2019 he actually seems to be doing better but as the doctor told him you may look better on the outside but from the inside your body is tearing you apart. Every day that he lives is on borrowed time as I mentioned earlier. He is well past his prognosis even the doctor said that whatever he's doing keep doing it because it seems to be working to extend his opportunity for the transplant. But I can see my Dad and he's exhausted, and let's face it if anyone knows a person it's their son. He is in a situation where he's still fighting for disability but doesn't have it and he literally has no Financial Resources. We've been asking him to sign off on doing this for months but he wouldn't do it because he felt that he's already asked people for enough help but it got to the point where we just feel and he agreed he needs help to live. Really, with the amount of lives that he's touched and helped and loved I'm hoping that you can help him out in his time of need because really there is no more time it's day to day.
He has living expenses, expensive medication, Home Health Care, Transportation, and food that he just can't pay for and people are helping him out of the goodness of their own heart right now. In order for him to be as comfortable as possible so he can stay alive as long as possible we would like to ask on his behalf your help to try to ease the financial burden in any way at all. It's tough for me to write this, but the bottom line is... I don't want to lose my dad. Please help if you can, and God bless you. We love you and thank you.
