A. P. Giannini Middle School Dance- Sprung Floor!

Hello!

My name is Monica Rivera and I am the dance teacher at A. P. Giannini Middle School in San Francisco, California.

It has always been my belief that everyone is entitled to a dance education without having to worry about paying for classes. I've had the honor of starting and developing this program over the last 2 1/2 years. During this time, I've gained 100 students, gotten ballet barres, acquired some mirrors, mats, a Marley floor, a fancy speaker, other important supplies, and developed a rigorous curriculum. None of these things would be possible without our strong community.

We have finally reached the point in our journey where we are ready for one of the final touches in our room! Our program is raising funds to get a professional sprung floor installed in our classroom. Sprung floors are essential for dancer safety and enjoyment. They are designed to reduce the impact of jumps and other big movements on our bodies. I believe my students now and in the future deserve the very best. This floor will be enjoyed for many years to come by generations of young dancers!
