Save my children from hunger and thirst. War is killing them

I am Nihal Mehrez, I am an ordinary citizen trying to help a Palestinian family by collecting the cost of a ticket to leave the war, which I will transfer through a bank account.

Ahmed Akram Al-Saleh (the father): I reside in Gaza with my beloved wife and three precious children. Once, our life was filled with stability, adorned with a job, a home, and a beautiful family. However, everything changed when the ravages of war engulfed our lives.

My wife, Asma, and our children, Yara, Tia, and Iman, were displaced from our homes to southern Gaza, where we found ourselves compelled to seek refuge in makeshift tents. Our existence has become an arduous struggle, devoid of water, food, shelter, and employment. I have lost everything – my past, my present. Yet, amidst this turmoil, my family remains my sole anchor, and I am determined to shield them from further harm.

I implore you for your support – to help us escape Gaza, to provide psychological assistance for my children, and to carve out a new future for them, one that befits their worth as human beings. I yearn for nothing more than a dignified life for my family, akin to that enjoyed by people around the globe.

I want to rebuild my house that was destroyed due to the war, as it has become a mirage, and even if the war ends, I do not have the money to rebuild houses and provide a home for my children who were left homeless. They have the right to live under a roof that protects them from the cold of winter and the heat of summer. I appeal to you to forget that you do not Leave us alone.

I invested all I had into our home, only to lose it without recompense. Debts accrued from its construction now weigh heavily upon us. We find ourselves dwelling in a tent, reliant on aid for sustenance, with no foreseeable future. My heart aches when my daughter pleads to return home, and I can only offer hollow reassurances. The truth is, I seek refuge from the horrors of war. I aspire to lead my family to safety, to Egypt, where the cost of escape amounts to $5,000 per person – a daunting sum of $25,000 for our family of five.

I beseech all compassionate souls to extend a helping hand to my family and me. Do not forsake us in the midst of this relentless conflict. We are human beings, deserving of dignity and peace. Let us not be torn asunder by war; let us instead embrace harmony and safeguard the well-being of our loved ones. I plead with you, do not abandon us. We are in dire need of your assistance.

أناشد كل النفوس الرحيمة بتقديم يد المساعدة لعائلتي ولي. لا تتخلى عنا في وسط هذا الصراع اللا هوادة فيه. نحن بشر، نستحق الكرامة والسلام. دعونا لا نتمزق بواسطة الحرب؛ بل دعونا نتحاور بالانسجام ونحمي رفاهية أحبائنا. أناشدكم، لا تتركوني وحيدًا. نحن بحاجة ماسة إلى مساعدتكم.
