A promise to my Dad 4x4x48 Ultra Challenge

It was Fathers Day 2019... I was having a short break in New York, trying to come to terms with loosing my grandad 5 weeks earlier. He was my world. My best friend. Then came the call from my nan. The pain and the heartbreak in her voice telling me she'd found Dad on his sofa passed away will live with me forever.
Throughout Dad's illness with addiction, plus the previous attempts he'd taken to end his own life, I thought I was prepared for this moment. I wasn't. That's why Fathers Day will forever be one of the most painful days of my life.
I thought running the marathon in dad's memory last year would be the end of this. "Never again" I promised myself. But a few weeks ago I connected with the most amazing man, Rich Price. Rich is only a couple of years into his recovery but he's now running ultra marathons to raise money for an incredible recovery facility at Hillgrove in North Wales supporting North Wales Recovery Communities. He's paying forward what that program gave him - the chance to live free of addiction. The kind of life dad wanted but never got.
Rich is trying to raise £5K to build a wellness centre which is vital to someone in recovery. Helping Rich reach that target would be amazing, right? Well,no. Because if we can raise 10k there is a possibility that could be matched with another £40K thrown into the pot by Sports Wales.
So that's what we're going to do. We're going to raise £10k.
So this I'll be putting all my grief and pain into doing the 4x4x48 is a challenge. The challenge was set by Navy Seal, David Goggins, to Ultra Runners. I'm neither a Navy Seal or an Ultra Runner. But I am determined to do whatever is in my power to ensure the right support is there for people like dad when they need it..
One paper 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours might not sound like a lot, but its essentially 2 marathons in 2 days with very little to no sleep. You only have to ask my husband what I'm like when I'm sleep deprived. God help him!
£10K. We can do this! Right?
