A Proper Send-off for Sara Geiken

My name is Katie Geiken and I have the privilege of being Sara Geiken's sister-in-law. Sara was diagnosed with stage 3 non-small cell lung cancer, adenocarcinoma in late 2019. For this part of the story, it is enough to know there have been ups and downs, at least one remission, and then a stage increase. She has braved all the treatments and many of the symptoms. Through it all, there have been some tears, even more smiles, and so much love and support. Now the cancer has spread and there is no more talk of remission. Right now, Sara is feeling pretty good, and she has a treatment plan aimed at keeping her quality of life as high as possible for as long as possible.

Here is where our gifts of cash can help a little. Sara wants to make the time she has count and, as we all know, everything costs money. Yes, there is a plan for an epic Disney World trip in the works. While she may check other big-ticket adventures off her list, Sara mostly wants to spend her time watching her daughter Paige do her thing in her senior year of high school. She wants to order pizza and have a movie and crafting marathon. She wants to see all the people and do everything she is well enough to do without worrying quite so much about how the money will hold, when the insurance benefits and 401k payout will land, and how her spending decisions will affect Paige.

Lots of people have asked how they can help. While donating is not the only way, it is one way to lighten the load for Sara and Paige.
