A Psalm of Amelia (Mia’s Song)

For those who know Amelia, who goes by Mia, she is known to be filled with love and joy. Her smile has the ability to warm your heart, if it is dad’s heart, then it melts. If you asked her what her favorite thing to do is, it would be singing. She loves to sing. I wonder who she gets that from. She has a mom and dad who absolutely love her and 5 siblings who think she is silly and sassy. She wouldn’t deny these facts. But most of all, she has a beautiful faith and loves Jesus.
Amelia was diagnosed with Leukemia on Friday, October 12, 2018. You really can’t prepare for such news but with faith, hope, and love being very much a part of Amelia’s heart she is strong and courageous. We have been taking it day by day, trying to process, become educated, and make adjustments with much prayer as the golden thread. Without it, it would all fall apart. Leukemia has changed our lives but we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him. God has a plan to draw us closer to Him because He loves us and to draw us closer as family and friends, because we strengthen one another and are called to love one another. So many graces have already been poured out into our hearts.
We understand that things happen, good and bad but with a strong faith, family and friends we can get through any storm. We know that we still have a lot of uncertainties on this journey but we are hopeful.
We have already received so much support through prayers, words, thoughts, hospital visits, flowers, gifts, cards, food, helping with kids and lots of stuffed animals for Mia. We are beyond grateful.
We have decided to provide those who would like to continue to support Mia and the Quintero family by a monetary donation through this gofundme page. What will your funds go towards? Initially, funds will be used to pay the medical bills for Mia’s treatment. We also know that with Leukemia, Mia will be out of school for the remainder of the year. With Mia being home that means Aubrey will need to be home providing care and getting her to treatment appointments.
We know any amount donated is a blessing and is appreciated.
In closing, Mia is loved by God and those around her. That is evident by the prayers, thoughts, words and generosity of so many family and friends across the country. This is now a part of Amelia’s life or rather “Song”. You will find Mia singing and singing what is in her heart. She sings as King David sang. King David wrote these songs and they are called the Psalms. The Psalms were prayers that spoke of his joys and struggles. As we reflect on this chapter of Mia’s life, she will have joys and struggles along this journey and it will be A Psalm of Amelia (Mia’s Song). Thank you for being a part of Mia’s Song.
