a refugee from Gaza, beaten in Athlone Town
Donation protected
On Sunday last, a refugee from Gaza was set upon by a group of men in Athlone Town. The man had fled the Israeli bombings. He sought refuge from the Irish who are said to be 'in solidarity' with Palestine, hoping to pave the way for his family's safe passage.
Coming from the rubble of Gaza, tented accommodation in a safe town was a dream come true. Over 2000 years ago, a man called Joseph had shown similar gratitude, brought to a stable, when there was 'no room at the Inn'.
But on Sunday last in Athlone Town, our refugee from Gaza was 'left dazed and couldn't talk' after being attacked by a group of men, beaten and punched about the head, neck and chest. After the trauma of Gaza, the paramedics were needed again......
This Christmas, let us help restore our faith in humanity. Any donation, no matter how small will be given directly to help this refugee and his family.
Thank you and Happy Christmas!
