I’m raising funds for a reliable car to handle my 150-mile daily commute to work—so I can continue providing for my family of seven, including a child with special needs.

Earlier this year, my wife’s Kia experienced engine failure, and despite the issue being tied to a recalled part replaced in February, Kia refused to honor the extended warranty. Thankfully, I found a dealership that paid full trade-in value for the Kia despite the failure, helping us get out from under that loan.

Around the same time, my Ford C-Max was declared a total loss after I filed a claim to repair the front bumper. I accidentally hit a light pole at 3 mph in a grocery store parking lot. While the damage seemed minor, the bumper wasn’t properly secure, and I saw it as a safety concern—both for myself and other drivers—so I did the right thing and reported it. Thankfully, my GAP insurance covered the remaining balance, but I was still left without a dependable vehicle.

In the meantime, I’ve been keeping my 1971 VW Super Beetle on the road as a stopgap solution. While it’s a fun car with character, it’s not built for long commutes, and I’m working hard to secure something safer and more reliable for the demands of daily driving.
