A ride with more than just a smile
Want to join me in making a difference?
Hi there, I’m Grace Oakley and this is my lovely mare Ug.
Together the two of us are planning a cheeky little fundraising event later this year which we hope you’ll all support.
I’d like to reveal that I’m planning to ride my 10-year-old mare through my home town of Ludlow in Shropshire wearing little more than a smile!
No, I’m not horsing around, I’ll be repeating what Lady Godiva did back in the eleventh century when she reportedly rode her horse naked through the streets.
It’s a bit of fun, which I hope will make people smile, but it is all for a very serious and worthy cause.
I’m raising money for an amazing charity called PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide. I lost my mum Kate to suicide in 2004. I was only 12 when she took her own life and so I know just how heartbreaking and devastating it can be for those who are left behind.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK. PAPYRUS believes many suicides can be prevented and we can all do our bit to help save young lives.
Over the coming months I’ll be busy getting myself toned-up for what promises to be an eyebrow-raising event in September.
I’m 29-years-old and it’ll also be a really great way of riding out my twenties in style!
My daughter Olivia is 9 and she thinks what I’m planning to do is really fantastic. she will be supporting me and Ug every step of the way during our fun (but chilly) fundraising event and I hope you will too.
