Sinead my 28 year old daughter has Cerebral Palsy outside of the home she is confined to the use of a wheelchair or electric scooter. 3 months ago she moved out of home for the first time. After saving as much as she could from her disability pension for the last 6 years she had enough for a deposit for a home. Because Sinead's disability requires so many home alterations and no suitable housing was available we(her family) decided to design and build a home around her needs. Her step dad Simon is a builder so he had taken 12 months off to build Sinead's home for her. As a family we all pitched in and made this happen Simon worked 6 days a week 12 hour days without pay we spent our entire savings but it was worth it she was finally happy. Sinead in just 3 short months in her new home was blossoming into a strong vivacious woman her confidence had soared to new heights I never thought possible. That all came to a screaming hault on Saturday the 19th January 2019 at 3.30 am she was awoken by heavy blows to her front door she reached for her phone and dialed 000 after several attempts to kick the front door in they moved to the widows which had security wire installed they started kicking at this and it gave way. They were now in her house they'd cut the power to her house and she was completely alone vulnerable and completely terrified. The emergency operator was on the phone with her trying to keep her calm but they were coming and she could hear all this she got out of bed and with help of a walking frame she went to confront the intruders. In complete darkness she could just make out 2 people standing near her bedroom door. They started screaming at her for her bag when they got it and realized she had no wallet or money in it the female started yelling and swearing at her then punched her in the head. While this was happening the male pushed passed into her bedroom and started going through her things. She managed to make her way towards the front of her house where the female tried to make her go into the spare bedroom. Sinead stood her ground yelled at her no and told her repeatedly to get out of her house then Sinead took off as fast as possible managed to get out onto the road and started screaming for help. The cowardly intruders took off. She's now back at home with her family she's hurt from being punched but thats the least of it. Over night her confidence is shattered she's terrified she hasn't slept properly yet she loves her beautiful little home that her dad built just for her but she won't be going back there until she feels 100% safe. For this we have no more money our financial situation is beyond 0 we're in dept from building this home. But our resilient brave daughter is determined to one day move back to her home.to do this we need to step up security and to step up security we need help. She will need security cameras window alarms new front door from being damaged solid timber door to her bedroom new dead locks. New security mesh hopefully one
that works this time and She wants a trained german shepard dog and more fencing around the front of the house so the dog has access to the whole home. And a whole lot of love and support and we may just be able to give this gorgeous natured girl the freedom to live and feel safe in her own home.
