Help Sad Beige’s Kids Get a Real Bedroom

Sad Beige’s kids' bedroom is an open loft without doors. (Maybe I should call this fundraiser LOFTIER GOALS?) Anyway - it’s been fine having them share until now. But as my kids’ needs grow (my daughter is 10, my son is 7) so does their need for that privacy and peace; this has become increasingly apparent as specific mental health needs come into focus. However, as their needs change, the housing market has made it impossible to move to anything better-suited.

We are not in a position to buy a larger home as we are careful to live within our means (we parents are both public librarians -- not exactly famous for making millions); over the years, we've saved a not-insignificant amount of money from my social media knowing they would need space, but the quotes we got back for a simple addition to our small home were way WAY more than expected, and the element of time (they need their privacy and peace sooner rather than later) has brought me to posting this.

(PS lest anyone think we put the kids in the loft and took the better real room — the loft is superior! It has a bathroom and is bigger and brighter. It just can’t be made into two rooms. Structurally impossible in this cottage built in 1737!)
