Help Silas get a Service Dog

A Sammy for Silas

Help us bring home a service dog for our sweet boy.

Hi everyone,

We’re reaching out with open hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for your help in bringing a very special companion into our lives—one that could truly change the world for our 3-year-old son, Silas.

Silas is a bright, curious, and beautiful little boy. He also has autism and is currently nonverbal. Every day brings its own unique challenges and joys, and while Silas experiences the world in his own incredible way, there are moments when he needs a little extra support to feel calm, safe, and connected.

One of the things that brings Silas the most comfort and joy is big, white, fluffy dogs. He lights up around them. There’s something about their presence that grounds him and brings him peace—and that’s where our dream of “A Sammy for Silas” begins.

Why a Samoyed?

We’ve learned that Samoyeds are not only beautiful and affectionate, but they’re also incredibly intuitive, gentle, and great with children. Even better, Samoyeds are hypoallergenic, which is very important since some of our family members have dog allergies. This makes a Samoyed the perfect fit for our family—and the perfect support companion for Silas.

We’re hoping to bring home a Samoyed who will not only be a service dog for Silas, but also a cherished family member. This dog will be trained to:

  • Provide deep pressure therapy, which helps calm Silas when he’s overwhelmed or overstimulated.
  • Act as a safety anchor when we’re out and about, helping prevent Silas from wandering off (something he tends to do without fear or awareness of danger).
  • Offer consistent emotional comfort and companionship in moments when Silas needs it most.

We’re so excited about the difference this dog can make—not just in Silas’s life, but in all of ours.

What We Need

The cost of purchasing a Samoyed puppy suitable for service training is about $3,000. Specialized autism service dog training is an additional $6,500, which includes obedience, public access skills, and autism-specific tasks tailored to Silas’s needs. https://dogtrainingelite.com/st-louis/training/service-dog/autism-support

Total goal: $9,500

Every donation—no matter the size—brings us one step closer to giving Silas the kind of support and companionship he truly deserves. If you’re not able to donate, we’d love it if you shared this page with friends, family, or on social media. Your support means the world to us.

Thank you for being a part of Silas’s journey. With your help, we can give him a friend, protector, and fluffy hero who will walk beside him every step of the way.

With gratitude and love,

Jef, Tabitha, Aaralyn, Rocket, Silas & Sebastian
