A Scary Time

To think that not everyone has something going on in life at any given time would be incredibly naive. Being fully aware that everyone struggles has contributed greatly to my fear of putting myself out there and being so vulnerable. This is such a long post and I do apologize for feeling the need to share as many details as possible.

February 9, 2024 is the deadline for the $20,000 goal. Only $14,000 is needed to reach the goal! The deed to the house has already been transferred back into the sellers name for missed payments and I have a small window to reach this goal and return the deed to my name as it should be.

I shared briefly a few days ago that there is potential for me to lose the home that I've spent the last 5 years building. Not just for myself, but to provide an opportunity for pets within our local communities to experience some level of safety and security.

Having only myself to consider would make this struggle significantly more manageable and unfortunately that is not the case right now. Not having the opportunity to continue to support our community, people and animals alike and including my own personal pets is a genuine and valid fear of mine.

My home is the home of LTR K9 Resource, it's the home of pets who need transitional placement and it's home to my cats and dogs who have been so amazing through this journey to rescue and house new little furry friends while helping them to work through the process of securing their forever. This home, their home and my home is also the home of our newest adventure and non profit that will follow a very similar mission of our original and it's a vital component to the success of all listed above.

2023 was a challenge and though reluctant to want to flush all of these memories through my brain I have to be as transparent as possible for everyone to have the whole picture. Just 3 days after Christmas of 2022 my roommate shot and killed himself in my vehicle while parked in front of my house, weeks later in January of 2023 the ground wire for my homes electrical disconnected from the power pole sending a surge of electricity through my house that caused thousands of dollars to repair and replace most appliances, every single light bulb and several of the breakers in my electrical panel including the main breaker which cost $250 on it's own. The following month in February, a tree from the neighboring yard fell into my yard crushing part of my fence and completely ripping the power line out of my house again causing financial distress. After several months my poor dog Abbie was lost to an accidental drug overdose and much of the cost for her treatment is thanks to all of you! After losing Abbie, I then lost my job and just days before Christmas. Having no job, extra expenses throughout the year and falling behind on payments to our home has left us in a very scary position.

I can't imagine where I could go with all of my pets if it came to that and I absolutely could not help with additional pets or focus on this new non profit without a place to call home. I have applied for unemployment which will contribute to this goal as well as food stamps to care for myself while transitioning into a new job and have been filling out applications daily while hoping to secure something quickly. Any contribution to the $20,000 goal will go directly into a savings account in my name and dedicated specifically to this effort to buy back the deed for our home.

February 9, 2024 is the deadline and I fear that I will not make it! To thank any of you for helping couldn't possibly be enough and I promise that if given the opportunity to continue the community and pet support that I have always provided, we will be reaching new levels and helping to make unbelievably positive contribution to pets and families of pets in our neighborhoods.
