A Self-Taught Filmmaker’s Dream: Support My First Short Film
Donation protected
Hey Y’all
So I’m making my first-ever short film—a 15-minute Malayalam mockumentary—and I need your support to bring it to life!
Well to start with, I’m a 24-year-old Indian student who came to the UK for a master’s in Forensic Science, which I’ve now completed. But living on my own made me realize something big—I can’t see myself doing something I don’t truly love. Filmmaking isn’t just an obsession for me anymore; it’s what I love talking about, learning, and now, finally creating.
The film follows Stephan Kuttiparambil (Steve), a master's student in the UK who is narcissistic, self-absorbed, and desperate for approval. He looks down on his own people, believing himself to be far superior to his colleagues, while obsessing over being admired by white people, whom he sees as the ‘ideal’ human species. His need for validation and dominance, especially over his girlfriend, ultimately leads him toward a tragic fate. The film unfolds over a single day, exposing the cracks in his carefully constructed persona.
This project is a bold, satirical take on identity, validation, and self-destruction. It’s my debut as a filmmaker, and I’m pouring everything into making it a reality.
To complete the film, I’m raising £2000 to cover production and post-production costs.
If you love independent cinema and fresh storytelling, please consider donating. The short film be shot in London as the whole narrative shapes around the city.
Every contribution—big or small—will help bring this vision to life. If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to me.
Thank you for being part of this journey!
